Peek into Proverbs, 11

Maybe you do it, too: read one chapter of Proverbs each day corresponding with the calendar date. Today, Proverbs 11. God always shows His children something as we ready His Word. I’d love to hear what God is sharing with you, too, as we read through this chapter today.

Proverbs 11

20They that are of a froward (perverse) heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.**

**21Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.**

Ok, I’m not even sure you’re going to believe me here, but I promise you what I’m about to tell you is true. I started writing today before my family was awake, and now it’s about time for me to get dinner together. But, I’ve been reading through Proverbs 11, highlighting and bolding parts of every verse. Knowing I want to err on the side of “PEEK” into Proverbs, I wanted to see if there was something sticking out to me to share today. And there it is. I am a little amused at where the Lord settled my heart. These are two of the stanzas I’d starred as I read through again, and the sure seem pointed-it message and number-for today. Proverbs chapter 11 and verses 20-21. For such a time as this:

20They that are of a froward (perverse) heart are abomination to the LORD: but such as are upright in their way are his delight.****21Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.**

Proverbs 11:20-21

God Knows

We often come to Proverbs for wisdom-rightfully so. Today is no exception. The United States just experienced something we haven’t witnessed since maybe the Revolutionary War. No matter, it was atrocious. I’m not going to pretend to know the truth of all that happened, and I’m certainly not going to try to glean it from the big media -social or network, but I do know the parts that were bad, were really bad. So what are we to do, friends?

Upright & Righteous

I don’t think I need to pull out a thesaurus here (but I COULD). God tells us we are a delight to Him when we live from an upright heart. Upright in contrast to perverse. What a nugget of gold here for our lives…how now shall we live?

The LORD detests those whose hearts are perverse, but he delights in those whose ways are blameless.

NIV Proverbs 11:20

A Job to Do

The seed of the righteous. Moms, and wives of lost men, too, we have a job to do. We can’t enroll our beloved ones into God’s family, but we are charged with training up in the Lord- through all the hours of the day and night -the children He entrusts to us. (Deut. 6-9). Our men who aren’t Believers are depending on us to love them as unto the Lord, that they will find Him by the grace and godliness we live out. No guarantees of the outcome, but we have an enormous assignment doing our part to obey the Lord, as He has designed it, for His glory. He can and will carry us through as we live His righteousness out in our lives, by His grace. Then, He will do with our obedience what He wills. No matter what His plan is in each of our lives, we can be assured it is worth it to live our repentance to God’s salvation out in love, obedience and service to the Lord, and to teach the same to our children to do the same.

I can almost say, even if you were born yesterday, you know wicked is joining forces more and more. But God. We live righteousness-by God’s power-and we teach righteousness-by God’s grace. The world rocks and rolls in wickedness, but God saves His own.

Though hand join in hand, the wicked shall not be unpunished: but the seed of the righteous shall be delivered.

Proverbs 11:21

Oh, that’s a great peek into Proverbs. Upright heart. Living out and teaching our children (our husbands) His righteousness. And being delivered from the punishment of the wicked.

I encourage you: don’t let the world water down your surety of what is right by God’s Word. Determine to walk after righteousness with an upright heart and follow the Lord our God!
