Gratitude 2016- Day 8

He Seeks the Lord

January 8, 2016

Lord willing, we’ll be celebrating 28 years of marriage this June.

(Just a second while I double check my math.  Wow!  Yep.)

It’s fair to say we’ve driven each other crazy over the past nearly 3 decades. We both live passionately which is equally as good as it is trouble at times.   There are a million little things I love about him.  But this one, it’s a biggie.

Never one day has passed where I could say anything contrary to, “My husband’s faith is strong, it’s undying,  it’s unwavering and it’s nonnegotiable. He seeks the Lord. In the good times, in the bad times, he seeks HIM.”

He seeks the Lord

                              He seeks the Lord

There’s no sweeter time  to witness his faith in action than when he shares the Lord with our boys.

Each night you can find him by their bedside, reading God’s Word together and praying.

He seeks the Lord.

I couldn’t be more grateful.

2016 Gratitude – Day 7

COFFEE!

Please, forgive the succinctness of this day’s gratitude, but it’s no less sincere.

Thank you, and I’m glad to get this one in the books.

Sweet dreams, Friends!

Use it as a bookshelf?

Bookshelf Where?

I love throwing away expired coupons, crumbs in the bottom cracker boxes and the tiniest pieces any  bag of chips tries to hold on to. And, I feel the same way about a complete after-Christmas clean up.

This year, like any other day, 😉  I changed the room around as I put away decorations. Couch–over there. Chair to the other corner, tables for the windows to frame, and as I did this it came to me. Bookshelf closer to Dad’s chair. Stopping to dust, I placed the books in waiting off the shelf and above me. Light bulb!  A little arranging and, wha-la, there they’ll stay.

Check this out and try it yourself. Spruce up the room and put those books in the space made just for them (at least for now). Pretty, if I do say so myself.

Gratitude 2016- Day 6

The Cross

January 6, 2016

How can I put into words what those five letters mean to me? The cross is where I met Jesus. Where my sins were forgiven. Where I traded eternal wrath for eternal life.  Where my heart was changed: blinded no more with the lies of  the world. Where He died,
“that whosoever believes will not perish but have eternal life.”  (John 3:16)

Chris Tomlin sings it well.

“At The Cross”

There’s a place where mercy reigns and never dies
There’s a place where streams of grace flow deep and wide
Where all the love I’ve ever found
Comes like a flood
Comes flowing down

[Chorus:]
At the cross
At the cross
I surrender my life
I’m in awe of You
I’m in awe of You
Where Your love ran red
and my sin washed white
I owe all to You
I owe all to You Jesus

There’s a place where sin and shame are powerless
Where my heart has peace with God and forgiveness
Where all the love I’ve ever found
Comes like a flood
Comes flowing down

[Chorus]

Here my hope is found
Here on holy ground
Here I bow down
Here I bow down
Here arms open wide
Here You save my life
Here I bow down
Here I bow down

All my gratitude starts here, at the cross.

2016 Gratitude- Day 5

Little Willy

January 5, 2016

Willy, William the Conqueror, or Big Stud as his main human calls him,

we all love him and are thankful for him in our lives,  but there’s no mistaking who’s whose.

On the occasion of my son’s 5th Christmas, his uncle (by request of a puppy and against this sister’s desires)

gave him a tiny, 4 pound, Italian Greyhound.

(Peeking from a furry red stocking.)

He named him

Willy.

They have been best friends since that time more than 7,000 days ago.

Can you imagine how many secrets those ears have heard?

Tears that now balding body has absorbed?

Or hugs  given back and forth?

He’s 16 years old now.

He’s Family.
