God of Truth PODCAST

El Emeth, God of Truth

Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.

Psalm 31:5

Whoever is blessed in the land will be blessed by the God of truth, and whoever swears in the land will swear by the God of truth. The former troubles will be forgotten and hidden from My sight.

Isaiah 65:16

Thomas saith unto him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest; and how can we know the way? Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

John 14:5-6

The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the one and only Son from the Father, full of grace and truth.

For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.

John 1:14 & 17

We know that we are of God, and the whole world is under the sway of the evil one. And we know that the Son of God has come and has given us understanding, so that we may know the true One. We are in the true One-that is, in His Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.

I John 5:19-20

Truth

Somethings are cut and dry. This, the God of Truth, should be one of those topics. I wish I could just note these verses out of scripture and bid a kind adieu here, but we’re way too involved in the world to simply walk away without shining the light on this truth.

So Far From the Truth

I can recall several times when I have sided with the world unknowingly. Times when I was ignorant of how God’s Word spoke to the ideal I had in my own heart that stood contrary to what God has to say. Ideas I allowed the world at large, at ordinary, to form as truth but where I was so far from the truth of God.

With that intention, to shine a light on God as truth-because He is truth, I will continue here.

This isn’t for the ones who don’t want to know what God’s word really says. It’s not for the ones who choose to turn away from God’s absolute truth with their own stamp of approval. This isn’t for the ones giving themselves permission to place their own ideas about something or someone to be more important -more applicable-more urgent-than the One True God.

Not Here to Change Your Mind

I’m not here to change your mind. I am not a mediator between anyone and God. I am here to praise the God of truth, El Emeth. It is self-proclaiming at His very name; He stands in opposition to the world we live in. We simply cannot stand in unity with the world and stand with the one true God.

We simply cannot stand in unity with the world and stand with the one true God.

Tamara Henion

Unfortunately, according to Barna (https://www.barna.com/research/changing-state-of-the-church/) the the majority of America — not withstanding some who call themselves Christians-have denied their faith in and of absolute truth.

Instead of standing strong unashamedly and unwaveringly for the One who died for us, we secretly wiggle uncomfortably in our skin. In one breath we publically name Christ and in another those around us see us reaching for and proclaiming society’s truths.

Straddle the Fence

Therefore, we’re left to straddle the fence trying to keep one foot in the world and the other following the Lord. It doesn’t work. In fact, it will never work.

We can not seek out and reach for the world’s wisdom while proclaiming the truth of God in our lives.

The Applause of Man

Though we draw the applause of man, we end up separating ourselves from the very truths of the God who saved us, taking others with us. Sisters, take note: there’s no fence straddling for the one who chooses Christ.

Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh, the desires of the eyes, and the pride of life—is not from the Father but from the world. The world is passing away, along with its desires; but whoever does the will of God remains forever.

I John 2:15-17

Stand With God

It’s a precarious place we’re in, to be kind, to recognize what our world says is right according to its laws and norms, but to also know where those things do not align with what God says is right… AND stand with God.

No Wonder People Don’t Like Christians

For decades, in my own lifetime, there has been a willing and intentional smearing of lines where it comes to God’s Word. We wouldn’t want to offend someone…the lies unapologetically play on loop, they’re verbiage changes, but their message of ungodly condemnation stay the same: WWJD, God loves everyone, that’s not loving, who are we to judge, no wonder people don’t like Christians…

Lies

The key here is to know God’s Word, and to walk with Him. It’s a lie to think God’s grace comes apart from His truth. For the Believer, there is no grace in the absence of truth.

The very reason we are Believers is because of Grace. Grace came to us following personal acknowledgment of our own sin.

Think about the very essence of grace. It is not the absence of sin whereby grace is necessary. No, it is because of our sin we need the very help of which we are so undeserving; enter God’s grace.

It is because of our sin we need the very help of which we are so undeserving: enter God’s Grace.

Charis

To the praise of the glory of his grace, wherein he hath made us accepted in the beloved. In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 1:6-7

When it comes to the New Testament, the word used often for grace is χάρις.

the N. T. writers use χάρις {Charis, (har-is), Grace} pre-eminently of that kindness by which God bestow: favors even upon the ill-deserving, and grants to sinners the pardon of their offenses, and bids them accept of eternal salvation through Christ: Romans 3:24Romans 5:17, 20  1 Corinthians 15:10Galatians 1:15Galatians 2:21Ephesians 1:6, Philippians 1:7Colossians 1:62 Thessalonians 2:161 Timothy 1:142 Timothy 1:9;

Offer Grace

To ignore sin and “offer grace” is a dangerous, albeit socially approved ,practice, and it is far from a picture of God’s grace. Let’s slow down a bit to be sure there is no misunderstanding.

We can, and should, replace the lie that we choose to withhold grace when we stand for truth, God’s truth, in a place where sin is residing fully comfortable. We don’t need to fight. The battle is the Lord’s. But know this: truth may not sound loving though it comes from a place of the truest love.

Speak Truth in Love

It’s never been more important to speak truth. I encourage you to speak God’s truth in love. We can not remain complacent where God has clearly spoken. To ignore the sin and ‘offer grace’ (as esteemed by the world) is a great spiritual fallacy.

It’s loving to address sin in love, Believer to Believer. It’s loving to hold co-Christ-followers accountable to our Father’s Word. It’s loving to share the Gospel with those who live a worldly life separated from Him. It’s loving to love even when looks unloving.

Fact is, the prerequisite for grace is sin. Where grace is needed, there is a place for underserved kindness. Be loving. Be kind.

Where grace is needed, there is a place for underserved kindness; rise to the challenge.

Met with Grace

God met our sin, God meets our sin, with His grace because He loves us. We chose sin, we choose sin, but God allows us to turn away from our sin and toward Him. There He meets us through grace in His son, Jesus Christ.

The One True God, El Emeth

Because He is the One True God, El Emeth, He can’t be anything but truth. He stands starkly against and in enmity with sin, and with the world.

Prioritizing the Lord

Sisters, we need to be careful. Prioritizing our relationship with the Lord before anything and anyone else should be our desire. We have to be in His Word and walking in communion with His Holy Spirit (meaning walking with Him with no known sin in our lives that would separate us from Him, and our prayers from being heard); it is most necessary.

If I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me:

Psalm 66:18

Now we know that God does not hear sinners; but if anyone is a worshiper of God and does His will, He hears him.

John 9:31

Start with our Heart.

When it comes to living out God in our lives and bringing Him glory through our actions, words and service, it has to start with our heart. Growth is fostered in our private relationship with the Lord when we spend time together: just we two.

Of course, the outpour of a personal growing relationship with the Lord manifests itself in every other relationship you have.

And I can assure you, you’re never going to be a “better Christian” outside of the walls of your own home than you are known to be inside of them.

The outpour of a personal, growing relationship with the Lord manifests itself in every other relationship.

JOY: Jesus, Others, Yourself

So many times I’ve heard the question from women who want to be better wives, moms, friends etc and their desire is rooted in the acronym JOY: Jesus, others, yourself. They earnestly believe that if they line up their days and lives on a checklist of this order they’re going to become better Christians-or at least Christians in the right order of life.

But, that’s just not how it works.

When we purpose to seek God in our lives first and foremost, and to follow Him right there out of loving obedience, everything else is exactly where the Lord wants it to be in our lives.

Everything.

There will be often be times when the order of JOY is not the order of Jesus in your life, but keeping the personal priority of allegiance to the Lord in all things, is always right.

Keeping the personal priority of allegiance to the Lord in all things is always right.

God First

Woe unto them that call evil good, and good evil; that put darkness for light, and light for darkness; that put bitter for sweet, and sweet for bitter!

Isaiah 5:20

El Emeth, God of Truth. We know this world is running amuck because the evil one and his helpers are quite busy. We can stand in agreement with them in this way, knowing they’re fighting a losing battle. God isn’t sidelined in the wickedness our country, our world, is wrapping around itself.

Not of This World

However, we are not of this world. Christ followers have no place, none, in standing with the world. To do so is to stand against God.

My encouragement and my challenge to you is to spend more time with the Lord: learning, repenting, seeking, following, obeying, loving Him-the source of our undeserved Grace. Furthermore, live it out unashamedly. When it feels uncomfortable to stand with El Emeth~God of Truth, do it anyway. Come what may. And teach your children to do the same.

No Darkness in the Lord

Remember the song, This Little Light of Mine? There is no darkness in the Lord, there is no darkness in real truth, there is no way to be with the Lord and without Him. He is the way, the truth and the life.

More Jesus

More Jesus! We need Him and the world around us needs Him. Let’s live for what we know is true when the lies swarm all around: we are the light of the world and the world needs to know El Emeth, the God of Truth!

You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.  Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house.  Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.

Matthew 5:14-16

sea were hushed.
